Aluminium Recycling For Hospitals
What is the aluminium recycling program?
Did you know your Baxter Healthcare Desflurane and Sevoflurane aluminium bottles are 100% recyclable? And did you know more than 88 hospitals across Australia and New Zealand are part of our aluminium recycling program?
This program is designed to help your hospital reduce costs on landfill, reduce carbon footprint and provides a valuable resource back into the economy. Annually the program redirects more than 1.2 tonnes of aluminium from landfill to recyclers.
How does the program work?
Baxter Healthcare have partnered with third party waste suppliers across Australia and New Zealand to collect and transport aluminium from hospitals to local recyclers. These waste suppliers will provide you with a 120-litre collection bin for your Baxter Desflurane and Sevoflurane aluminium anaesthetic gas bottles exclusively.
After collection the bottles goes through a smelting process to clean the aluminium before it gets pressed into large blocks of raw material.
Recycling aluminium saves a tremendous amount of energy over virgin production and is used in a variety of industries and products.
Who can participate?
Lengthy transport of small quantities, inappropriate segregation and waste contamination can all quickly offset the benefits of recycling.
So, if your hospital is using aluminium Desflurane and Sevoflurane bottles only, please request a call-back and we will get in touch to determine next steps.
